‘Ueramkarap’ means ‘touching your heart gently’ in Ainu language. Ainu is the ethnic group in Hokkaido, Japan. When they meet people for the first time, they greet each other saying ‘Tanepo unukar ruwenekusu ueramkarap anpenena’(May I touch your heart gently?).
We, Bigwood have the same kind of hearts towards nature and animals as Ainu, who have been living with nature very well since the ancient time?
We established ‘ Ueramkarap’ hoping that dogs and owners would find the good relationship in this Itojima, Fukuoka-ken where surrounded by beautiful greens, farms and seas. We believe that when dogs come to us waving their tails, they are saying ‘ May I touch your heart gently? ’ We wish that in ten to twenty years, this ground would be a pleasant space with small woods where people and their dogs share their lovely time together.
